Below are some interactive, copyable examples (Powered by https://blueprintue.com) of various common tasks.
Using the Unreal built-in Combine function, you can no longer worry about the correct use of /
or \
as file separators.
Using FileSDK's File Reader, you can skip around large files to read important chunks of data without having to read in the whole thing. Below is a detailed example of using the File Reader.
In the editor, you can type Shift+Enter
in a String
literal box to add a CRLF (Carriage Return followed by a New Line), at least on Windows. You should do your own testing if it matters to you if it's CRLF or LF.
You can also read in image files at runtime and display as a Texture2D on a UMG widget! This works for both .png
and .jpg
files.
While FileSDK allows you to read the binary data for audio files, it doesn't come with any tools to convert them to sound objects that Unreal will play. There also aren't any built-in tools to do this. You will need to find another plugin for this functionality in the meantime.
